The more places we go, the more we want to see. North America: Mexico, Central America, United States and Canada.   It’s such a vast place we could spend the rest of our lives exploring it. There’s everything from frozen tundra to tropical rain forests. Oceans, deserts, mountains and canyons along with world-class cities and quirky small towns mixed in. Since starting to travel in a fifth-wheel trailer in spring, we’ve just scratched the surface. And now, we can’t imagine slowing down. Continue reading

The Rocky Mountain West; Sept 2017

After resting up at friends’ ranch in Kennewick Washington we drove into northeastern Oregon and one of our favorite places; the Wallowa Mountains. But, before we left Kennewick, we switched our cellular service from AT&T to Verizon and glad we did. Immediately our phone service improved and with Verizon’s jetpack (a small portable router) we could now access the internet using Verizon’s cellular signal even when camping far out in the back country. Far East Oregon; August 2017

It was mid-July when we entered southeastern Oregon at the cowboy town of Lakeview on the Oregon/California border along shores of huge Goose Lake. From here the high deserts of southeastern Oregon stretch far, far away; as far as the eye can see, and then far beyond that, forming one of the largest wild areas in the conterminous United States. This is a land of remote, deep canyons, vast sage-covered plateaus, and high desert mountains. Wild rivers flow through the Owyhee Canyonlands while Steens Mountain rises almost 10,000 feet high in the middle of it all. This is Oregon’s Outback. Continue reading
