April 2018; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; April 2018

Imagining:

We spent April in St George, Utah. We were checking out St George as a possible place to establish a homestead. After two years of nomadic life we’ve decided we want a home base from which we’d continue travel. And, we found it; over an acre of beautiful land in a rural community outside of St George. Now we’re imagining the house we’ll build there.

Traveling:

April travel was local around St George, Utah. And what a place to explore! Within an hour or two drive are Zion and Bryce National Parks, the slick rock back country of Grand Staircase National Monument, the high mountain wilderness of Dixie National Forest, Snow Canyon and Las Vegas. We camped in Snow Canyon most of April and hiked some of the more remote parts of the area. The whole area is magnificent, in every direction. Our latest trip report for Utah will be posted soon under CURRENT TRAVELS, Travels 2018, with detailed descriptions and photos of the area.

Discovering:

Now that we’ve found our new home base we feel relieved. The land won’t become available until fall, and we won’t start building for months after that, but knowing we will eventually have a place to call home has given us a sense of calm.  So, until then, we’ll continue our planned travel route north to Puget Sound where we’ll spend the summer. I guess we’ve discovered we’re more home bodies than we thought, and happy for it.

Looking forward to recent photos. Nice to find a place you want to call home! Happy travels in the mean time. I’ll leave to go pick up my trailer in Alabama next week. Various things to deal with before heading out nomad-ish mid/late June or so. – Rich

    • Thanks Rich, And good luck with your new rig. If you get to the Pacific Northwest in summer, look us up.
