Monthly Report; June 2018

Imagining:

We’re already thinking about our travels for the rest of the year. With our reservations set for summer in parks along Puget Sound we’ve started thinking about where and how to return south in the fall. There are so many choices it’s almost overwhelming. Should we drift down the Pacific coast of Oregon, or follow the continental divide south through the Rocky Mountains? Or, maybe just return the way we came through eastern Oregon and Nevada. We feel very humble and happy to have these choices in our lives. Continue reading

May 2018; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; May 2018:

Imagining:

We’re excited about two seemingly contrary ideas; traveling on and building a home. We found a homesite in St George Utah, but it won’t be available until fall, so we’re traveling north to spend summer in the Puget Sound of Washington State. But, these two actions are actually compatible since even after we establish ourselves in a home base we’ll continue traveling from there. There’s a lot on our minds and we’re excited about it all. Continue reading

April 2018; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; April 2018

Imagining:

We spent April in St George, Utah. We were checking out St George as a possible place to establish a homestead. After two years of nomadic life we’ve decided we want a home base from which we’d continue travel. And, we found it; over an acre of beautiful land in a rural community outside of St George. Now we’re imagining the house we’ll build there.  Continue reading

March 2018; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; March 2018

Imagining: March was Baja California Month (plus a quick stop in New Jersey). Besides snorkeling with whale sharks and eating tons of fresh seafood we were exploring. We wanted to check Baja California out as a possible place to establish a home base or, at least a place we’d return to winter. After two years of nomadic wandering, our main goal in travel this year is to find a base to travel from, and a place to return to. Continue reading

February 2018; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; February 2018

Imagining:

We are on an exploration trip of Baja California – to investigate some of the more remote areas and the possibility of establishing a home base somewhere along the Sea of Cortez. Although we have a general idea where we’re heading, we’re planning our travels on the fly. We change course as our imagination gets caught by new things we that we discover along the way. Still, the overall priorities for Baja are whales, beaches and mountains. So, we focus on those things while we wander around the deserts and beaches along the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California) and then down the Pacific coast. Continue reading

January 2018; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; January 2018:

Imagining:

We spent January imagining where to go in 2018 and came up with this: We stored our truck and trailer in Tucson Arizona, so from January through March we’ll travel through Chihuahua and Baja California Mexico with our backpacks. Then it’s off to New Jersey for a long overdue visit with family there. By the end of March we’ll fly back to Tucson, stow away our backpacks, and pick up our truck and trailer from storage. From April through July we’ll be slowly migrating back north through Utah, Nevada and Oregon to summer along the Puget Sound in Washington State. After that the plans get hazy, but I’m sure we’ll figure it out by fall.   Continue reading

December 2017; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; December 2017

Imagining:

We spent December in Tucson Arizona, in a friendly, funky RV park. Here we did some long overdue maintenance on the truck and trailer and planned out our travels for 2018. It’s going to be a busy year. We’ll store our trailer in the RV park and go to Mexico from mid-January through Mid-March, first taking care of some business in Chihuahua before flying to Baja California to snorkel and kayak with the whales in the Sea of Cortez. We’ll fly back to visit family in New Jersey before returning to Tucson to pick up our truck and trailer and start migrating northward through Utah, eastern Oregon and summer along Puget Sound in Washington State. Continue reading

November 2017; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; November 2017

Imagining:

We’ve landed in Tucson Arizona for the holidays, but already thinking about our next move. After New Years we’ll put our truck and trailer in storage, dig out our backpacks, and head for Baja California Mexico, staying in Air BnBs, kayaking with the whales, and exploring the mountains of the Vizcaino preserve in the middle of the Baja California Peninsula. After that we have business to take care of in Chihuahua Mexico before we return to Tucson, pick up our trailer, and migrate north through Utah, California and Oregon to spend the summer in the Pacific Northwest of Washington State. At least that’s the plan for now. Continue reading

October 2017; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; October 2017:

Imagining:

We’ve seen a lot, but there’s a lot more to see. That’s what captures our imagination now. We’ve hiked through remote red rock canyons in Utah, froze in the snowy Rocky Mountains, and marveled at the dramatic coastline of Oregon. North America is fantastic, and we can’t wait to see more of it. Continue reading

September 2017; Monthly Newsletter

Monthly Newsletter: September 2017

Imagining:

The more places we go, the more we want to see. North America: Mexico, Central America, United States and Canada.   It’s such a vast place we could spend the rest of our lives exploring it. There’s everything from frozen tundra to tropical rain forests. Oceans, deserts, mountains and canyons along with world-class cities and quirky small towns mixed in. Since starting to travel in a fifth-wheel trailer in spring, we’ve just scratched the surface. And now, we can’t imagine slowing down. Continue reading
