Monthly Report; February 2019

Imagining:

2019 is shaping up to be a big year for us. We’re imagining all we will see and do. We’ll start off in New Mexico, investigating if we will build a house there. Then we’ll summer along Puget Sound before drifting back south along the Oregon Coast and southern Utah to Tucson in the fall. Then, if our plans hold up, we’ll spend Thanksgiving on the Caribbean coast of Mexico. It’s a big plan, and almost certainly to change along the way, but that’s what we’re imagining now. January 2019, Monthly Report

Monthly Report; January 2019

Imagining:

By the end of January we were halfway through our four-month stay at Desert Trails RV Park in Tucson, Arizona. We’ll leave on March 1st.  We know that date will come soon, so we’re planning our travels for 2019.  In March we’ll camp in the deserts of Nevada, then to Albuquerque to plan building a house near there.  As springtime arrives we’ll drift northwards through the Wallowa Valley of astern Oregon and summer along Puget Sound in Washington State. After that, we don’t know. Maybe we’ll return to Tucson for the winter, maybe we’ll drift southwards along the Oregon and California coasts, maybe we’ll take a long road trip through Mexico to the Caribbean. We’re still thinking about all of that. Continue reading

December 2018; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; December 2018

Imagining:

December in Desert Trails RV Park, Tucson Arizona. It’s nice to stay put for a while, but we’re already imagining our travels for 2019. In 2019 we’ll explore more of the western U.S., revisiting some of our favorite places and exploring some new ones. After spending next summer along Puget Sound we’re already thinking about wintering along the Caribbean coast of Mexico.  At least that’s the plan for now, and it’s sure to change. Continue reading

November 2018; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; November 2018

Imagining:

November was all about Tucson Arizona and, Thanksgiving of course.  But the big news was that we became landowners.  Our offer for a small acreage lot in the mountains outside of Albuquerque New Mexico was accepted, so now we’re planning the house we’ll eventually build there.  Meanwhile, we’re enjoying visiting with old friends and making new ones in our winter camp at Desert Trails RV Park outside of Tucson.  Our old friends Laura and Casey from Washington State were also spending November in Tucson and we had a nice, quiet Thanksgiving together in our RV park. Continue reading

October 2018; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; October 2018

Imagining:

Our goal for October was to check out some rural areas outside of Albuquerque and Santa Fe New Mexico as a possible place to establish a home base. As much as we love traveling, we miss having a home base to return to, so we’re looking. So far, the runners-up are small acreage lots in rural areas outside of St George Utah or on the east side of the Sandia Mountains outside of Albuquerque. We’ll know which by the end of November. We’re already imagining the house we’ll build. Continue reading

September 2018; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; September 2018

Imagining:

Southward bound. We’ll land in Tucson for early winter, but wondering where to go from there. France to see friends? Mexico to see whales? Or, will we start building our final home base, either in New Mexico or Utah. We’re imagining a busy winter in any case. Continue reading

August 2018; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; August 2018:

Imagining:

We’re thinking about winter; where to spend it. Arizona? Utah? Mexico? Each has its advantages, but since we need to be in Mexico by late December anyway, maybe just stay and explore more of the Mexican Caribbean. But then we have reservations to stay in Tucson Arizona too. And southern Utah in winter – beautiful. Ah, what choices. One thing we’ve learned; it’ll become clear as we travel on. Continue reading

July 2018; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; July 2018

Imagining:

We spent July in Anacortes Washington on Fidalgo Island in the northern Puget Sound, a two-hour drive above Seattle. With sunny summer days in the 70s and lots of things we’re already thinking about spending our summers here. We still hope to build our home base in Utah, but summers would be spent here, nestled between the Salish Sea and the North Cascade Mountains. Continue reading

June 2018; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; June 2018

Imagining:

We’re already thinking about our travels for the rest of the year. With our reservations set for summer in parks along Puget Sound we’ve started thinking about where and how to return south in the fall. There are so many choices it’s almost overwhelming. Should we drift down the Pacific coast of Oregon, or follow the continental divide south through the Rocky Mountains? Or, maybe just return the way we came through eastern Oregon and Nevada. We feel very humble and happy to have these choices in our lives. Continue reading

May 2018; Monthly Report

Monthly Report; May 2018:

Imagining:

We’re excited about two seemingly contrary ideas; traveling on and building a home. We found a homesite in St George Utah, but it won’t be available until fall, so we’re traveling north to spend summer in the Puget Sound of Washington State. But, these two actions are actually compatible since even after we establish ourselves in a home base we’ll continue traveling from there. There’s a lot on our minds and we’re excited about it all. Continue reading
