Albuquerque, Santa Fe and on to Oregon March, May 2019

We decided to spend March and most of May in Albuquerque New Mexico to investigate building a home base on a small acreage rural lot on the opposite side of the Sandia Mountains from Albuquerque; the East Mountains as it is called there. Just a twenty-minute drive around the Sandias would bring us to all the shopping we would need, and forty-five minutes would get us to Santa Fe. The community we bought in seems remote and quiet, adjacent to the Cibola National Forest in an oasis of juniper and pinyon pine forest overlooking the San Pedro and Sandia Mountains. Monthly Report; March 2019

Imagining:

Our imaginations are going crazy and I wonder, are we trying to do too much? This year we’ll explore building a home base in New Mexico, then travel to the Pacific Northwest for the summer, return to the southwest in the fall, spend a month in the Mexican Caribbean before settling into Tucson Arizona for the winter. Whew, it sounds exhausting before we even start and yet, we can’t wait to do it all. Continue reading

Tucson Arizona to Albuquerque New Mexico – March 2019

On March 8th we left our comfortable camp of the past three months in Desert Trails RV Park outside of Tucson and headed towards Albuquerque New Mexico. We are investigating whether to build a home base on property we bought last year in the mountains outside of Albuquerque. But, along the way we had a friend to pick up in Flagstaff and some sights to see before we settled into a RV Park near Albuquerque. We had a mini-adventure coming up. Continue reading

Santa Fe, Albuquerque & New Mexico – Oct 2018

We spent late September and early October drifting southward from northeast Oregon, through southern Utah, southwestern Colorado, and into New Mexico (see our reports on this journey in Travels 2018). Our destination was Coronado Campground; a small RV park operated by the City of Bernalillo, fifteen miles north of Albuquerque New Mexico. Our goal was to investigate some properties where we might establish a home base. So, we set up in Coronado Campground for the last two weeks of October. Continue reading

Monthly Report; October 2018

Imagining:

Our goal for October was to check out some rural areas outside of Albuquerque and Santa Fe New Mexico as a possible place to establish a home base. As much as we love traveling, we miss having a home base to return to, so we’re looking. So far, the runners-up are small acreage lots in rural areas outside of St George Utah or on the east side of the Sandia Mountains outside of Albuquerque. We’ll know which by the end of November. We’re already imagining the house we’ll build. Continue reading
